With only a week to go until the end of the summer transfer window, which players are worthy of attention? Here are some of the stars who could be in the headlines before September 1.
[1] Ronaldo, striker, Manchester United
In Manchester United's home game against Old Trafford, Ronaldo missed the stage, and the future of the Portuguese star is still the focus of discussion. The 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United for a team that can play in the Champions League, but now he has no choice or time. A source told ESPN that Ronaldo will stay at Manchester United, but there are concerns that his negativity will affect the dressing room, and things may change as the summer window closes.
[2] Aubameyang, striker, Barcelona
Aubameyang left Arsenal to join Barcelona in February. Now, Barca hope to receive a transfer fee of 25 million euros from Aubameyang so they can register new aid Conde under the La Liga salary cap.
At present, Chelsea is a popular option for Aubameyang's next home, and the Blues are very interested in him. However, while there are reports that Aubameyang would love to reunite with Tuchel, he is 33 years old and Chelsea are reluctant to spend too much money to sign him.
[3] De Jong, midfielder, Barcelona
De Jong's transfer rumours have dominated the headlines this summer, but things are getting uglier. In October 2020, De Jong accepted Barcelona's request for a salary cut, but a source revealed that Barcelona hoped that he would accept a salary cut again on the grounds that his current contract was illegal. Previously, Barcelona had reached an agreement with Manchester United on the transfer of De Jong for a transfer fee of 85 million euros, but according to reports, De Jong wants to play in the Champions League, while Bayern and Chelsea are waiting to see.
Since De Jong is still asking Barcelona for 19 million euros in arrears, there is a high probability that he will not leave the team. If Barcelona can solve the salary cap problem by selling other players, then De Jong is likely to stay, and Barcelona coach Xavi also hopes that the Dutch midfielder can stay in the team.
[4] Fofana, defender, Leicester City
Fofana was ruled out of Leicester's squad for Southampton last weekend due to his absence from training. Foxes manager Rodgers explained at the time that the 21-year-old defender was not in the right form to play. Chelsea have reportedly made three offers, all above £70m, but Leicester want at least £80m and are less likely to want him to leave. If Fofana wants to join Chelsea, his transfer fee will be a record for a central defender, otherwise he will be forced to stay.
[5] Dest, full-back, Barcelona
At the press conference last weekend, Barcelona coach Xavi said very cruelly: "He knows what the situation is." This implies that Dest has no future at Camp Nou. It is reported that Barcelona hope to sell Dest, after Chelsea were interested in him, while Bayern and Atletico Madrid have given up on signing him.
Manchester United is also a potential next home for Dest, but time is running out and he may join Dortmund in exchange for Meunier.
[6] Paqueta, midfielder, Lyon
Newcastle have reportedly made several offers for Leicester City midfielder Maddison, but they have all been turned down, so they have to look for other targets. It is reported that Lyon's playmaker Paqueta may join the Magpies, but Lyon hopes to get 50 million euros. Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain had been linked with Paqueta earlier, but their interest soon moved elsewhere. West Ham have reportedly joined the race for Paqueta.
[7] Tielemans, midfielder, Leicester City
Tielemans is in control of the transfer as his contract with Leicester expires in 2023, but the Foxes do not want to lose the 25-year-old midfielder. Tielemans has proven his quality since landing in the Premier League in 2019, with Liverpool and Arsenal currently linked with the Belgium international.
[8] Gordon, winger, Everton
Gordon's strength has attracted the attention of many teams. Tottenham and Newcastle United have been interested in bringing him in the past, but now Chelsea are most eager to sign the 21-year-old England winger. According to sources, Chelsea have made an official offer of around £45 million, but Everton insist on a transfer fee of more than £50 million. Previously, Tottenham brought in Richarlison from Everton for £60 million.
[9] Ziyech, striker, Chelsea
Ziyech's future depends on Manchester United's ability to meet Ajax's offer for Anthony, who had previously offered 80 million euros but were rejected by the Eredivisie supremacy. If Manchester United sign Anthony, then Ajax will bring Ziyech back to the Eredivisie. However, when Ziyech, 29, leaves Stamford Bridge, Chelsea will need to bring in a winger, maybe Gordon or someone else.
[10] Leo, striker, AC Milan
Last season, Leo scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists in 42 games, successfully helping the Rossoneri win the Serie A championship after many years. Despite being only 23 years old, the Portuguese striker has a lot of potential, with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain both interested in him, and Chelsea have been linked with him recently, with a reported €95m offer from the Blues.
